Children in Street Situations - Society's responsibility: Solidarity Day - 23rd Feb. 08

The JCG is a group of like-minded civil society organizations, activists, artists, individuals and youth groups who believe in development and that change is possible. This group aims at creating a think tank for a group of interested active organizations and individuals to work on creating stronger entities and alliances between civil society organizations, activists and youth groups.

The group saw that because the Egyptian civil society is in need for new methods and tools to achieve its goals. Therefore, it came out with the idea of working together on specific issues of common interest to the members of the JCG and opening the space for all interested to join. From this came the idea of organizing an open day for children in street situations on 23rd Feb 07. This day was considered a success and there was strong media coverage for it and therefore the experience is repeated one more time on 23rd Feb. 08 in The Cultural Garden For Children in Syeda Zeinab, Qadry Street.

The motto of the "Children in street situations" Day is "Children in Street Situations - Society's Responsibility: Solidarity Day". This motto acknowledges the fact that this issue of street children is our responsibility as a society to find probable and possible comprehensive solutions for it.
